Incisivosaurus
gauthieri
A newly discovered small therapod dinosaur
whose peg-like teeth hint towards a plant eating life style.
Incisivosaurus is the oldest known
member of the Oviraptorosauria. The teeth are peg shaped like that found
in many Sauropods, the two front upper teeth are elongated and somewhat
incisor-like ( hence the name ) and may have been used in a gnawing
fashion much like rodent incisors. the lower jaw tip probably held a sharp
beak, used in concert with the upper front teeth it must have been a very
effective tool for doing whatever it was that Incisivosaurus was doing. The skull
and a single cervical ( neck) vertebrae are all that is so far known of
Incisivosaurus so I limited my reconstruction accordingly.
